Brews & Views: DARK MONEY AND ITS EFFECT ON OUR POLITICS

Hosted by the League of Women Voters.

Campaigns are becoming increasingly costly and the sources of the money are becoming harder to track. The 2018 election was the most expensive in Michigan history with millions of dollars pouring into the state from dark-money groups that didn't have to disclose their donors. Craig Mauger, the executive director of the Michigan Campaign Finance Network (MCFN), will give a presentation about what happened in 2018, how the role of money in state politics has changed and how it impacts policy decisions that affect everyone. MCFN is a nonprofit organization that works to shed light on the role of money in Michigan politics.-

This event is open to the public (but must be over 21 to buy/drink alcohol.)

Brews & Views: Plugging into Affordable Housing

For people in our community interested in supporting affordable housing, it can be hard to connect to what's happening. It seems like we only hear about a project after the proposal is denied or read about city council vote after the fact. How do we get involved and stay informed? What are the crucial policy challenges preventing more affordable housing in our community? What kind of work is already being done and how can we engage? Avalon Housing will be with us to answer these questions and tell us about the work they do to increase access to affordable housing in Washtenaw County.

Hosted by the League of Women Voters of Ann Arbor

This event is free and open to the public. The doors open at 7:00 pm.

Full Metal Jokers presents: An Indoor Standup Comedy Showcase

Come to Pointless Brewery & Theater to see standup comedy performed on stage and to drink craft beer brewed on site!  Performers have incredibly unique material and style but all are guaranteed to get you laughing.  Beer styles vary and have included Ales, IPAs, Stouts, Wheats, Saisons, and whatever else the master brewer can dream up.

Headliner Robert Jenkins uses his unique point of view, quick wit, and disarming delivery to tell you why he's right. You'll disagree, but you'll laugh anyway.  You may recognize him on television from Foxs stand-up comedy show Laughs and in theaters from Dave Landaus Detroit-based comedy movie The King.  You may also recognize him from comedy clubs across the nation since he has opened for Hannibal Buress, Kyle Kinane, Matt Broussard, Alonzo Bodden, Red Grant, and many others.

Roberts first comedy album is called "Achievement Unlocked" - it's available on iTunes, Amazon, xBox Music, and many other places.

Host Felicity Blue is a physicist by day and gutter trash by night  She brings smart, raunchy, and brutally honest comedy to stages in Michigan and nationwide. When she's not coding or crying, she cohosts the Tap Room Comedy Night, a biweekly showcase in Ypsilanti, MI.

Guest star Dan Thomas comedy is a channeling of his acerbic thoughts about life that frequently interweaves high brow ideas with low brow subject matter.  He has performed at clubs across the U.S. and Canada.

The show is presented by Full Metal Jokers which started as (and still is) an outdoor comedy show that pops up around Ann Arbor and the Metro Detroit area. Pointless Brewery & Theater is known for excellent improv and brewing excellent beer.
